URGENT

Urgent – Founder, Artist, and CEO of TME Records (Time Moves Emotionless Records LLC) From the heart of Detroit to the world stage, Urgent is the sound of resilience, raw talent, and timeless creativity. Born and raised in the Hamilton neighborhood of Detroit, Urgent began his musical journey in 1990 at just 10 years old. Gifted with a natural ear for music, he started crafting beats and writing rhymes with nothing but determination and a keyboard. By age 13, he was producing with Casio and Yamaha keyboards, later graduating to the iconic Roland XP-60, laying the foundation for what would become a life steeped in music and innovation. Trained by the University of Michigan-Dearborn Youth Symphony Orchestra, Urgent mastered instruments ranging from the xylophone and clarinet to the full drum set. He learned piano under the guidance of his father, Darnell Fair, a skilled pianist, and further developed his skills at McCord Music. In the late ’90s, Urgent joined neighborhood rap group C.A.N. (Crazy Ass Niggas), performing throughout the Metro Detroit scene at venues like Hart Plaza, The Lush, and CoCo’s House of Comedy. By 2001, C.A.N. had launched A-1 Records, where Urgent served as Chief Operations Officer and co-produced the citywide concert event “Turn to Represent.” In 2002, he appeared on the compilation album “Da Cook Up.” The following year, in 2003, Urgent founded Time Moves Emotionless Records LLC (TME Records). His debut album, “Time Moves Emotionless,” dropped that same year, marking the beginning of a catalog that would resonate with the underground and mainstream alike. From 2008 to 2012, Urgent released a flurry of impactful mixtapes: The Equalizer Freestyle Mixtape Pt. 1: Hip-Hop Edition The Equalizer Freestyle Mixtape Pt. 2: Hood Edition Freestyle of the Day Mixtape: Far Past Your Edict These projects ignited a movement—an urgent call to bring authenticity back to hip hop and revitalize Detroit’s voice in the music world.
